Hearing Dogs for Deaf People does THE most amazing work and is so inspiring!  They train cute and cuddly puppies into super-skilled hearing dogs who transform the lives of their deaf owners. These loyal furry companions alert their owners to important sounds they’d otherwise miss – sounds that you and I take for granted like the doorbell, mobile phone, alarm clock, cooker timer and danger signals like the fire alarm.

Hearing dogs also provide emotional support and companionship which help deaf people to leave loneliness behind and reconnect with life.

This awesome charity was co-founded back in 1982 by Bruce Fogle (father of Ben Fogle, well-known broadcaster, writer & adventurer) and Lady Beatrice Wright.  Her Royal Highness Princess Anne has been the charity’s patron since 1992.

During 2020-2021 (during the Coronavirus pandemic) their services supported an incredible number of 3,263 deaf people and their family members.  They’ve matched almost 1,000 Hearing Dog partnerships across the UK and provided a range of other personalised services to assist thousands of deaf people, including support groups and a dedicated Helpdesk.

Did you know that basic training for a puppy costs £25,000 and the overall support a hearing dog needs during its life runs to £40,000?

These are big numbers and a huge investment for every pup.  Every contribution makes a difference to their valuable work and it’s always gratefully received by their lovely fund-raising team!
